Events have historically been a cornerstone of Developer Relations and the primary channel to deploy your Developer Advocates in front of the developer community.
Events come in many forms, from large conferences and trade shows to small meetups and hackathons, online and in person. Your team will be attending events that someone else has organized, and you will also create and run your own events in a variety of formats.
Despite the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe events will endure because face-to-face remains unmatched for creating the personal and community connections we all crave and offers spontaneity and experiences that online can just not deliver.
As a DevRel professional, you need to be on top of the key events to attend, speak at, and sponsor to reach your target audiences, indeed we dedicated a whole chapter to events in our book "Developer Relations: How to Build and Grow a Successful Developer Program" so be sure to take a look through that for our 'Event Reality Check', how to choose which events to attend, preparing for an event, how to execute at an event, post-event, organizing your own events, the event journey, and event return on investment.
Below is a list of resources that will help you stay on top of everything that is going on. These resources cover both events dedicated to the topic of DevRel, and technical conferences where your target audiences will be. If you know of a great event resource we are missing, please let us know and we will add it.
An additional bonus resource is the Hack day Manifesto. Not an event listing as such, but a great resource to any DevRel planning a hack day or technical event.
